About this project
In this project, we were tasked with designing a custom remote control enclosure, optimized for injection molding and mass production.
What We Did:
-
Injection Molding–Friendly Design: We developed the enclosure with full consideration of injection molding guidelines, ensuring proper wall thickness, draft angles, and parting lines for seamless manufacturing.
-
Prototype Validation: Using SLA 3D printing, we created an initial prototype to check the form, fit, and function — especially the precise fitment of the internal PCB and electronic components.
-
Design Optimization: Based on the prototype testing, we refined the enclosure by:
-
Reducing the PCB size for a more compact form factor
-
Giving the product a minimalistic, modern look to enhance user appeal
-
-
Second Prototype: We then produced a second 3D printed prototype to validate the updated design and confirm all component fitments.
-
DFM Documentation: To prepare the product for production, we generated a complete Design for Manufacturing (DFM) package, including technical files and mold-ready data for all related parts.
This project showcases our ability to take a functional electronic product from concept to production-ready stage, ensuring both engineering accuracy and aesthetic appeal.
