Our client identified a real market gap: limited feeder bowl options designed specifically for large breeds like Bull Mastiffs, where spillage and instability are common when the dog pushes the bowl around.
CADLETE Designs was engaged to create a purpose-built solution, addressing stability, anti-skid grip, and durable branding on a curved surface, all through a production-ready injection molded design.
What made this project hard
Achieving true stability
Large breeds needed more than lightweight plastic, requiring integrated metal dead weight at the base without hurting manufacturability.
Metal-plastic integration
A reliable overmolding process where a metal plate embeds into the structure during molding.
Anti-skid durability
A durable rubber base layer with strong adhesion that would not slide loose over time.

Designing for a dog that pushes back

A metal plate, overmolded into the base
The metal plate base was engineered for overmolded integration into the plastic structure, giving the bowl the dead weight needed for true stability without a separate assembly step.
An anti-skid base built to last
A custom rubber pad solution used a cutting die system with double-sided adhesive, engineered for durability over repeated feeding sessions, not just an initial bond.


Pad printing solved the curved-surface branding problem
Pad printing technology was developed in-house specifically because screen printing and UV methods were unreliable on the bowl’s curved geometry, delivering clean, durable, production-friendly branding.
Functional prototypes were tested in real-world conditions, and the product line was expanded into a full feeder bowl range for all dog sizes and cats.
