A full range of magnetic guards, ready for the shelf
Trimmer guards are essential accessories for barbers and home users alike, and a brand that offers its own range needs guards that fit reliably, look distinctive and arrive ready for retail.
A US-based client wanted a complete range of trimmer guards, including 0, 1, 2 and the other required sizes, with magnets integrated into the guards, and snap-in parts that help them fit a wide range of trimmers.
The client came to CADLETE Designs for a complete solution: design, engineering, tooling, production, packaging and delivery.
The goal
A reliable, distinctive product range that the client can order and receive fully finished, without managing design, factories, packaging or shipping.
Magnets inside a molded part, and a finish that stays consistent
The guards had to fit reliably, hold their magnets securely, look the same batch after batch, and arrive in retail packaging.
Fit and compatibility
The guards had to fit the client’s trimmer system reliably, with snap-in parts helping them fit a wide range of trimmers.
Magnet overmolding
The client wanted the magnets integrated through overmolding, a complex tooling and manufacturing challenge that needed a practical, production-ready answer.
A distinctive look
Special finishes such as glitter-based colors needed careful color and masterbatch development to stay consistent.
Retail and international delivery
The finished guards had to be packaged for retail and shipped internationally.
From CAD to blister-packed guards
Six stages, shown with the real CAD, prototypes, molded guards and packaging from this project.
Stage 01 · Product design and engineering
A full guard range, designed for injection molding
We developed the complete range of trimmer guards from scratch and engineered them for injection molding.
Each guard carries its size number on the face, with the snap-in features designed into the base.

3D printed and SLM prototypes, tested for fit
We produced 3D printed and SLM functional prototypes to validate fitment, function and compatibility with the client’s trimmer system before tooling.
That way the fit was proven before any money went into molds.

A practical way to put magnets into molded guards
Overmolding the magnets directly created a complex tooling and manufacturing challenge. We developed and validated a practical solution for securely integrating the magnets into the molded components.
The solution was implemented across the whole product range and received strong feedback from the client.

Stage 04 · Tooling, production and finishes
Molds built, production managed, glitter finishes developed
CADLETE developed the required molds and manages the production of the trimmer guards.
We also handle color development and masterbatch requirements, including special finishes such as glitter-based colors, so the guards look the same batch after batch.

Logo, graphics and blister packs
We created the logo, graphic design and packaging design, including blister packaging, so the product is supplied in retail-ready condition.
As the photos show, each guard is sealed in its own blister pack.

Quality coordinated, shipped by air or sea
We coordinate quality and manage logistics and international shipping by air, sea or other required methods.
The client places an order and receives finished, packaged products.

Questions about this project
How are magnets put into injection-molded parts?
Magnets can be overmolded, placed in the mold so plastic forms around them, or fitted into molded features. Overmolding them directly was a complex tooling challenge on this project, so CADLETE developed and validated a practical way to integrate them securely, now used across the whole range.
Why prototype clipper guards before making molds?
A guard only works if it fits the trimmer well. 3D printed and SLM prototypes let the fit, function and compatibility be tested on real trimmers before the molds were made.
What is a masterbatch?
A masterbatch is a concentrated mix of pigment or additive that is blended into the base plastic during molding to give a consistent color or effect. It is how these guards get their glitter-based colors batch after batch.
Can CADLETE design the packaging too?
Yes. For this range CADLETE created the logo, graphics and blister packaging, so the guards arrive ready for retail.
Can I order a finished, packaged product from CADLETE?
Yes. Here the client places an order and receives finished, packaged guards: CADLETE manages the molds, production, finishes, quality and international shipping by air or sea.
Will my product idea stay confidential?
Yes. CADLETE signs a non-disclosure agreement before any technical information is shared, so your design files and IP stay yours. It is also why this story does not name the client.
