Organ Transport Box: Keeping Organs Suspended, Sealed and Safe

Organ transportation demands precision, protection and reliability. CADLETE Designs works as an official R&D partner to a leading hospital, developing new organ transport solutions as clinical and functional needs evolve.

This project explored a water-based cooling and suspension concept. A small organ travels inside a sealed bag containing liquid, and the bag must stay suspended inside the box without touching the walls or surfaces. The enclosure also had to be water-resistant and leak-resistant during transport.

We handled the complete mechanical design and R&D, including the bag attachment mechanism, lid interface, sealing concept, gasket design and material selection, and overall enclosure architecture. The bag attaches securely and easily to the lid while holding its suspended position.

To compare options, we developed two approaches: a manufacturing-ready metal version using sheet metal fabrication, and a plastic version prototyped through SLM 3D printing. The prototypes were tested by the hospital and validated, moving the organ transport system to its next stage of development.
