Smartphone Hologram Kit: Turning a Phone into a Floating 3D Display
Holograms capture students' imagination, and they do not need expensive equipment. Our client wanted a STEM and educational kit that creates a 3D holographic effect using just a smartphone or tablet and teleprompter glass.
The concept is simple to use. The user places a phone or tablet on top of the device and plays an animation against a dark background. Angled teleprompter glass reflects the image, creating the illusion of a 3D image floating in space.
Getting that illusion right takes careful optics. Before building any kits, CADLETE Designs carried out R&D to determine the right glass angle, viewing distance, optical depth and holographic effect needed for a convincing visual experience.
After the R&D phase, we developed and delivered two fully functional prototypes with different shape variants and interchangeable visual cards, so the client could evaluate and test the experience.
