Chain-Operated Latch for Tall Barn Doors: Operate a 20 ft Door Lock from the Ground

Chain-Operated Barn Door Latch: No More Climbing to Lock the Door

On tall barn and industrial doors of 12, 15 or 20 feet, the upper latch is hard to reach. Our client wanted a chain-operated solution so the top latch could be worked from the ground.

CADLETE Designs developed a unique chain latch mechanism. The latch mounts at the top of the door and connects to a chain. Pulling the chain from the ground releases the latch, and the mechanism engages automatically when the door closes.

We designed the complete product and built functional prototypes for the client to test. After successful validation, we developed zinc die-casting tooling and moved the die-cast parts into production. Stainless steel parts are made by milling and CNC machining, and components are buffed, polished and finished with premium PVD coating.

We also source external parts such as the chain, then assemble, package and supply everything ready to sell. The client simply places an order, and CADLETE delivers to their doorstep.
