Horse Head Handle: Redefining Barn Hardware for the US Market

A US-based maker of horse barn hardware came to CADLETE Designs wanting more than a redesign. Its existing horse handles, including imported ones, lacked realism and premium appeal, and blended in with everything else on the market.

We explored more than 40 concept sketches before landing on a unique fusion design: a refined horse head at the top, a spiral grip in the middle for better ergonomics, and a subtle seahorse-inspired tail at the base. Foam and 3D printed prototypes let us test grip comfort, proportions and form in the hand before committing to metal.

The final shape was built with advanced, multi-software surface modeling, then re-engineered for zinc die casting with proper draft angles, wall thickness and mold compatibility. We handled tooling and production in-house, finished the handles in multiple premium PVD colors, and created the packaging with foam inserts, installation manuals, branded backplates and custom screws.

With DDP delivery to the USA, more than 4,000 units have been produced, and the new design now anchors the client's premium product line.
